We got married at the Shalimar Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas on Saturday September 19, 2009. I was expecting the worst for a Vegas Wedding and was I most pleasantly surprised. When my wife and mother, after making all of the arrangements a paying a non refundable deposit, told me that we were getting married at a chapel located inside of the Howard Johnson I began to get apprehensive about everything and told them maybe we should forfeit the deposit and find something else. Thankfully they said we think it’s going to be alright. We were staying at the Wynn and I couldn’t imagine leaving there and going to the Howard Johnson being anything but cheesy. First the limousine driver called us and said that he would be picking us up in an SUV; we come downstairs see this huge extremely fancy new Lincoln Navigator Limousine, being from New York I am not easily impressed but things were looking up. We arrived at the Howard Johnson and found that it was not your typical Howard Johnson, the lobby was nicely appointed and the chapel looked exactly like the pictures on line. The lady behind the desk greeted us with a smile and the photographer got everyone really relaxed and the photos that we received after the ceremony were sharp and professional. I can’t even find the words to describe the ceremony performed by the minister, my father-in –law was moved to tears and I even felt a lump in my throat.
